The Vault: An Award Winning Transformation

Have you seen our Kitchen Renovation Project in Surrey, BC where we took a home from outdated to outstanding?

"The Vault" is a remarkable home renovation project that showcases the power of thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship. Located in Surrey, British Columbia, this once-outdated home has been transformed into a breathtaking blend of Mid Century Modern and Modern Organic Design. Our team at Homestead Design Build worked closely with Align Interior Design to create a beautiful, functional, and inviting space for a growing family.

When we first stepped into "The Vault," it was clear this home had potential—but it needed some serious vision to bring it to life. With a tight timeline, our team worked to create a stunning Modern Organic space that feels both warm and sophisticated.

The transformation of "The Vault" was more than just a visual upgrade; it was a full-scale renovation designed to improve the home's functionality and aesthetic appeal. With demolition starting the moment our clients took possession, every detail was planned meticulously to meet their timeline before welcoming their first child.

The result? A stunning home that has not only been nominated for multiple home design awards in British Columbia but has also been featured in a prominent design magazine. These recognitions celebrate our dedication to exceptional design, craftsmanship, and project execution.

West Coast Homes and Design Magazine Feature

Being featured in a design magazine has been a proud moment for our team. Showcasing "The Vault" to a wider audience allows us to inspire others who are considering a home transformation. The feature dives into the project's design elements, material choices, and the creative process that led to such a remarkable result.

NKBA 2025 Award Winner

"The Vault" project was selected as the winner of the 2025 NKBA’s award for Best Contemporary Small Kitchen, and a finalist for Best Contemporary Small Bathroom, highlighting our team's innovative design, attention to detail, and ability to transform a dated space into a modern masterpiece. We take great pride in this acknowledgment, as it underscores our commitment to quality and creativity in every project we take on.

However, the most meaningful achievement of them all is hearing what the homeowners had to say:

We can’t say enough good things about Homestead Design Build. We trusted them with a full home renovation, executed on an extremely tight timeline. Here’s the scenario: My wife and I find out we’re expecting our first baby, and immediately start house hunting, knowing we’re about to outgrow our existing townhouse. We find a house to buy, but it needs a full renovation to make it worth the move. I get in touch with Cody for a site visit before we place an offer, since as a huge part of pursuing the house was contingent on completing the renovation before the baby comes in a few short months. Cody’s calm demeanour and wealth of knowledge were immediately reassuring, as he quickly pointed out the wins (no beams needed if we take down walls), as well as the possible pitfalls of existing conditions that needed to be addressed.

Feeling confident Homestead could deliver, we took the leap and soon had a possession date in February, with all the work needed to be completed by June. Cody quickly onboarded Rebecca from Align Interior Design to bring our dreams to reality. Before we even got the keys, we had a new beautiful floorpan in place, and a detailed schedule of milestone dates for the trades. The week we got our keys, Cody and his crew got to work, tackling the demo with speed, while being incredibly considerate of our quite cul-de-sac, mindful of noise, parking, and all the little things that make a good neighbour.

Every trade brought in was top-notch—not only experts in their field but also just great people. That meant a lot, especially since we were living in the basement throughout the entire three and a half month renovation. Cody was the MVP every step of the way, making sure we stayed informed, while also being a source of wisdom explaining upkeep to us as new homeowners coming from a strata lot. Any question I could ask (and there were a lot), he had experience with and insight for.

The project was completed on time, blowing away our expectations. Now, as a family of three, we couldn’t love our home more. Homestead Design Build understands the importance of a family’s home, and they’ve made our dream a reality - for which we’ll always be grateful. If you’re looking for a team that truly cares about their clients and the homes they create, we highly recommend them. And a bonus, you may even get a magazine feature in the process like ours - totally unexpected, but well deserved recognition for the all star cast that made it happen.
